PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dannie Fuentes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruno Goreson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goreson rushes Fuentes and presses him up against the cage.

Fuentes gets control of Goreson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Fuentes will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Goreson cracks Fuentes with a solid left hand.
Fuentes wants to sweep but no luck.
Goreson is looking to advance position but Fuentes has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Goreson tries to lock up and control but Fuentes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Fuentes prevents Goreson from getting the reversal.

Fuentes jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Goreson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Goreson and Fuentes has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Goreson is trying to improve his position.

Fuentes decides to stand back up.
Fuentes explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Goreson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Goreson preventing the sweep.
Goreson looking to sit in guard and control but Fuentes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Goreson has momentary wrist control but Fuentes slips an elbow through the middle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goreson wants to stand up but Fuentes is controlling him.

Goreson looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Fuentes has picked Goreson up and slammed him! Goreson can't keep hold of the triangle and Fuentes manages to pass to side control!

Fuentes tries for a kimura but Goreson is defending well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fuentes cracks Goreson with a big elbow.

Fuentes looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Fuentes goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Goreson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Fuentes but great work by Goreson.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fuentes is looking for a sweep.
Fuentes is not content to let Goreson control the position.
Fuentes is trying to control Goreson's posture but Goreson avoids it.
Fuentes is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Goreson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Fuentes makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fuentes.
Goreson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fuentes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Goreson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Fuentes working for submissions but it's allowed Goreson to get to half guard.
Goreson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Goreson wants to pass to mount but Fuentes is defending the position.
Goreson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fuentes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Goreson is just content to waste time from the top position. Fuentes takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Fuentes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Goreson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dannie Fuentes will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Goreson jabs Fuentes to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Goreson gets a double leg takedown into Fuentes's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fuentes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Goreson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Fuentes is tightening it up a little... Goreson has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Goreson reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Goreson taps out! Nice BJJ there by Fuentes!
