The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pitts darts in looking for a takedown but Majkan gets double underhooks and turns Pitts into the cage.

Majkan has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pitts uses from the top position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Majkan wants to stand and escape but Pitts is having none of it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Majkan can do anything to dispel that myth.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pitts accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Majkan wants to get back to his feet but Pitts is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Pitts postures up in Majkan's guard and throws a big left but Majkan blocks it.

We're going to have a standup here because Boris Pitts wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Majkan stuffs the takedown attempt from Pitts. Pitts gets slowly back to his feet.
Pitts shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Majkan sprawls well. Majkan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pitts gets slowly back to his feet.

Majkan parries the strikes from Pitts easily there. Pitts is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Majkan to escape.
Majkan is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Majkan is not content to let Pitts control the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pitts working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Boris Pitts will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Pitts will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Pitts will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Majkan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pitts. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Oh Pitts is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Majkan arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Pitts's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

A determined Redjo Majkan didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
