Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mary Barron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bobby Hughes has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Mary Barron's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mary Barron!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bobby Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes closes the distance looking to clinch

and Barron counters by moving into the clinch.

Hughes tries to pull guard but Barron holds him up against the cage and eventually Hughes drops back down to his feet.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Barron breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Barron gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hughes is fighting to break Barron's control of his arms but Barron is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Barron wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Hughes is now in half guard.
Hughes is keen to just control but Barron is a slippery customer.

Hughes decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Hughes falls off balance throwing a combination
and Barron counters with a head kick. That will keep Hughes thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Hughes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hughes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Barron swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hughes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barron but Barron pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mary Barron has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Hughes.

Barron shoots in looking for a takedown. Hughes tries to sprawl out of it but Barron keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hughes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Barron decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hughes, up you get!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hughes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Barron's guard.
Hughes is pushing down on Barron's leg trying to pass to half guard. Barron is fighting to maintain full guard but Hughes has managed to sneak the leg through.

Hughes wants to free his trapped foot but Barron is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Hughes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Barron doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hughes.
Barron is concentrating on defense, preventing Hughes from advancing position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hughes is trying to control the action in half guard but Barron is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Barron is doing well to control the position and prevent Hughes from advancing to side control.

Hughes is nestled in close to Barron, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mary Barron.

and Barron counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Hughes is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Hughes dives in and grabs Barron's left leg, looking for a takedown. Barron pushes down on Hughes's head and hops out.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Hughes shoots for a double leg takedown but Barron sprawls well. He's pushed Hughes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Barron looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Barron has hold of one of Hughes's legs. Hughes is fighting the takedown attempt but Barron gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Hughes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Barron defends well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hughes lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Hughes is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Barron defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Barron looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Hughes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Barron sprawls well initially but Hughes persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
