The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tanner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Farmer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Farmer leaves Tanner with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Tanner shoots in for a takedown but Farmer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Tanner shoots for a double leg takedown but Farmer sprawls well. He's pushed Tanner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Reuben Tanner. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Farmer jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Farmer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Farmer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tanner as he avoids it easily.
Farmer closes the distance and clinches up with Tanner, looking for a takedown. Farmer pushes Tanner against the cage but Tanner circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Tanner shoots in looking for a takedown but Farmer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tanner's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Farmer dives in and grabs Tanner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tanner pushes down on Farmer's head and hops out.
Tanner tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Farmer defends well and Tanner ends up having to push Farmer into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Horrible takedown by Tanner or perhaps it was just good defense by Farmer which made him look bad.

Tanner has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Farmer is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Farmer shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Tanner manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Tanner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
