Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Henry Curtis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Haroldo Gnomo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haroldo Gnomo struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Haroldo Gnomo enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Henry Curtis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Haroldo Gnomo!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gnomo lands a nice looking kick to the body. Curtis takes a step back to recover.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Curtis.
Gnomo closes the distance and lands a one-two.

so Curtis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Curtis is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gnomo is on top in guard.

Gnomo is looking to improve his position but Curtis isn't that keen on the idea.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Curtis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gnomo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Curtis wants to sweep here but Gnomo controlling him for the moment.
Curtis looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Gnomo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Curtis wants to get back to full guard.
Curtis on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Curtis tries to get out of the position.
It looks like Gnomo is going to stand back up.
Curtis tries to roll over but Gnomo keeps him under control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Gnomo gets caught flat footed, as Curtis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Curtis won't let Gnomo get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Curtis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gnomo looks a forlorn figure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Curtis shoots in looking for a takedown. Gnomo tries to sprawl out of it but Curtis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gnomo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A combination from Gnomo does no damage.

and Curtis counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gnomo won't be happy with that.
Gnomo wants to get back to his feet but Curtis is dominant here and he's now got Gnomo's back!

Curtis is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gnomo can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gnomo's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Gnomo tries to reverse the position but Curtis maintains control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Curtis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gnomo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Gnomo is looking for a sweep.
Curtis lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Curtis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Curtis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Gnomo is trying to improve his position.
Gnomo is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Curtis has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Curtis swings around for an armbar but Gnomo sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Curtis's guard.

Curtis had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gnomo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Curtis Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gnomo's back instead.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gnomo takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Gnomo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Curtis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Curtis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gnomo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Gnomo takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Gnomo is looking to regain half guard here but Curtis keeps moving and retains side control.

Curtis closes the distance and clinches up with Gnomo, looking for a takedown. Curtis pushes Gnomo against the cage but Gnomo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

You get the feeling that Gnomo really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Curtis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
