The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogan shoots in looking for a takedown. Lopez tries to sprawl out of it but Hogan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lopez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice takedown defense from Lopez. No joy for Hogan on that attempt.
Hogan shoots for a takedown but Lopez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Hogan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lopez throws a lazy right hand but Hogan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lopez throws a head kick but Hogan moves out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hogan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lopez tries to avoid it but Hogan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lopez to the ground. Lopez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hogan misses with a takedown attempt - Lopez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Lopez jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hogan manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Lopez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hogan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lopez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lopez's back!

Hogan is trying to stick to Lopez's back but Lopez is turning into Hogan. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hogan's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Lopez.

Lopez is trying to land a reversal but Hogan doesn't like that idea too much. He pushed the legs to the side and dives into side control. He's managed to grab a loose arm triangle. Hogan is tightening it up though! This could be trouble for Lopez! Lopez trying desperately to escape but he's gone limp! He's out! Wooooorld class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Hogan!
