The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matx tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Vims manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Matx misses with a lunging right hand
and Vims counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Matx thinking.
Vims has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

and Vims counters with a left to the body.

and Vims counters with a nice uppercut.

It looks like Grace Matx has been cut.
Vims connects with a body shot that sends Matx's belly button to the back.
Matx has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Beast farming in the buildup to the fight.
Matx is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vims.

Matx uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vims.

A punch lands to the side of Matx 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Oooooh!!! Vims has knocked Matx down with a huge combo! Vims steps away and waves a wobbly Matx back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Oh Matx is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

and Vims counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Vims dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Vims fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Matx walks straight into a right hand from Vims - that's dropped him! Vims jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Matx from any more punishment! Matx complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Paul Vims!
After winning the bout, Paul Vims thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
