PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rorny Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tristan Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Bittersweet Symphony. Kennedy has chosen My Way as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kennedy circles away.
Gracie misses with a hook.

Kennedy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Gracie is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kennedy throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Gracie tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kennedy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Gracie is in a horrible position here. Kennedy smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Kennedy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kennedy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gracie is looking to escape.

Gracie tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kennedy wants to control the pace but Gracie is squirming around nicely.

Despite being in the dominant position, Tristan Kennedy just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Kennedy counters with a two punch combo.
Kennedy throws a leg kick which misses Gracie's front leg but catches the back leg as Gracie tries to avoid it.

Gracie looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

and Kennedy counters with a thumping low kick.
Gracie misses with a double jab.
Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kennedy counters with a stiff right hand.

Gracie is breathing heavily.

and Kennedy counters with an outside leg kick.

Gracie chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kennedy can pounce on him.
Kennedy fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Kennedy closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kennedy wants to control but Gracie is keeping him busy.

Kennedy decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Kennedy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kennedy wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.

Gracie is looking for a triangle but Kennedy pushes his legs off easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Tristan Kennedy dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Gracie jumps guard but Kennedy stands there with Gracie around his waist. Gracie gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Kennedy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Gracie has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Kennedy should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Gracie has tightened it up now! Kennedy should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
