Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hank Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Burbridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hank Cox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Burbridge!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burbridge tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Burbridge shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cox pinned against the cage. Cox gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Nice takedown defense from Burbridge. No joy for Cox on that attempt.
Burbridge misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Cox gets tackled into the cage by Burbridge. Burbridge maintains the clinch.

Cox manages to break the clinch.

Burbridge moves into the clinch successfully.
Cox prevents Burbridge from breaking the clinch.
Cox taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Cox jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Burbridge walks away with a smile on his face. Cox gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Burbridge pushes Cox up against the cage in a clinch.
Burbridge tries to circle away but Cox has him pinned against the cage.

Burbridge ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Burbridge no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Cox is looking to work some ground and pound but Burbridge has wrist control.
Cox looking to pass the guard.

Burbridge avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Cox lands a couple of digs.
Cox throwing strikes but missing.
Burbridge keeping moving, preventing Cox from controlling successfully.
Burbridge can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cox controls the pace.

Cox missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Burbridge is controlling Cox's posture.
Cox has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nice sprawl there from Cox as Burbridge shoots in.
Hank Cox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Burbridge.

Burbridge closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cox's guard.
Cox is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cox will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Burbridge tries to kick Cox off but Cox keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Cox is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Burbridge is just riding it out for now. Cox eventually gives up the hold.

Cox is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cox seems to be working for a kimura but Burbridge defends the submission attempt.

Burbridge is looking to improve his position.
Cox stalling.
Cox missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hank Cox will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Burbridge fails to land the takedown.
Burbridge tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Burbridge tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cox swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Burbridge lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Burbridge must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cox is on top in guard.
Burbridge is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cox is controlling him.

Cox sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Burbridge's guard.
Burbridge wants to get back to his feet.

Cox is looking to take a break and control but Burbridge is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cox is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Burbridge!
Cox can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Burbridge is looking to escape.

Burbridge is wriggling around trying to escape.
Cox looking to control but Burbridge is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Cox thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Burbridge tries to lock up and control but Cox gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Cox tries to control but Burbridge wriggling away.
Burbridge is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Cox has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Burbridge is forced to tap!
