PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ze Guimba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willie Stroker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guimba comes to the cage accompanied by The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Willie Stroker was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ze Guimba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Willie Stroker!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guimba shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Stroker sprawls well. Stroker wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Guimba gets slowly back to his feet.
Guimba scores with a jab to the jaw.
Stroker is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Guimba tries for a takedown but Stroker sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Stroker.
Guimba throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Stroker.
Stroker fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Guimba is looking to clinch but Stroker is avoiding it.
Stroker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Guimba paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Stroker scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Guimba is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Guimba is pressing down on Stroker's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Stroker lands a couple of digs.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Stroker postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Guimba is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Stroker, into his guard.
Stroker avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Guimba trying to control but Stroker is working from the bottom.
Guimba lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Guimba throwing strikes from guard but Stroker blocks nicely.
Guimba wants to control from the top but Stroker keeps moving.
Guimba will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Stroker tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Guimba is looking to work some ground and pound but Stroker has wrist control.

Guimba drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Guimba jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Guimba wants to get up but he can't break Stroker's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Guimba is breathing heavily.
Stroker keeping full guard, as Guimba tries to pass.
Stroker is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Guimba is controlling him.
Guimba with a flurry of punches that miss.
Guimba is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Finch Farm that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Stroker is trying to keep Guimba in close.
Stroker looking for a sweep. Not yet Stroker, not yet.
Guimba trying to control but Stroker is working from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stroker can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ze Guimba wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Stroker bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Guimba tries to improve position but can't.
Stroker cracks Guimba with a big right hand but Guimba just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Stroker lands a few punches from side control.
Stroker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Guimba keeps working.
Stroker advances to mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stroker working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Stroker pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Guimba is in a horrible position here. Stroker smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
A nice elbow there by Stroker.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stroker prevents Guimba from getting the reversal.
Stroker tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Stroker lands a big shot to the head and Guimba winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Willie Stroker!
In defeat, Ze Guimba stepped up to the mic, saying ' Congratulations to him, he was the better fighter tonight, but I'll come back even better.'.
