Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Arnoldo Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitchell Davies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mitchell Davies looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Arnoldo Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mitchell Davies!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shaw darts in and clinches Davies up against the cage.
Davies looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Shaw gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Davies regains guard.
Shaw is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Shaw forces his way into half guard.
Davies really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shaw. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Shaw lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shaw takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Shaw really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Shaw's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Shaw lands a nice shot to the head.

Shaw stands up from mount. Strange move.
Shaw shoots in but Davies avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Davies stuffs the takedown attempt from Shaw. Shaw gets slowly back to his feet.

Shaw bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shaw controls the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shaw has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Shaw seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Davies for as long as he can get away with.

We're going to have a standup here because Arnoldo Shaw wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Shaw instigates a clinch.
Davies struggles to land a body shot inside as Shaw controls his hands.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Shaw takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Shaw pulls Davies into guard.
Shaw is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
My spies in Pitbull MMA inform me that Davies has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Shaw is adopting a defensive guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Shaw moves into range and clinches up with Davies.

Shaw pulls Davies into guard.
Shaw pulls Davies in close to his closed guard and prevents Davies from doing any damage or advancing position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shaw is on top in guard.

Shaw drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Davies dives on top into guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Shaw holds on and takes a little breather.
Davies is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Davies would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Shaw is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Arnoldo Shaw overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Shaw has Davies pulled in close to control his posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Arnoldo Shaw wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Shaw instigates a clinch.

Shaw turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Shaw is putting a hurting on Davies here, landing some big shots from side control.

Shaw has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Shaw shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Davies but Davies pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Shaw throws a body kick that misses.
Davies throws a series of punches but Shaw moves out of range.

Shaw rushes Davies and presses him up against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Shaw breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Davies avoids the head kick by Shaw.
Shaw lands a nice looking kick to the body. Davies takes a step back to recover.

Davies is trying to pull guard but Shaw turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Shaw is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Davies can't fight it off and eventually Shaw manages to take the fight to the floor. Davies looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Shaw will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Shaw not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Shaw drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shaw jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Shaw postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arnoldo Shaw dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Shaw feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Shaw works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Shaw has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Davies is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Shaw yanks on the arm and Davies is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Shaw.
