PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jean Claude Van Damned (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timmy Crain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Damned comes to the cage accompanied by I'm gonna need a montage. Timmy Crain will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Claude Van Damned!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Timmy Crain!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Van Damned checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Crain closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Van Damned wants to get back to full guard.

Crain is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Van Damned defends it well.
Van Damned is trying is best to control the position here.
Crain with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Van Damned keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Van Damned wants to improve his position but Crain is controlling well.
Van Damned is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Synergy Fight Team (ACME) that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Crain wants to free his trapped foot but Van Damned is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crain throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Van Damned to regain full guard.
Van Damned lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Crain!

Van Damned working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Crain manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Van Damned prevents Crain from standing back up.

Van Damned escapes and gets back to his feet.

Van Damned fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Crain sprawls well initially but Van Damned persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Crain is positioning himself well to prevent Van Damned advancing to mount.

Van Damned is looking to advance position but Crain won't allow it.
Crain tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Van Damned seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Crain has recovered full guard.
Crain tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Van Damned stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Crain swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Van Damned knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Crain on the ground.
Crain is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Crain throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Van Damned engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Crain scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Van Damned takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Van Damned is looking for a sweep.

Crain tries for a kimura but Van Damned is defending well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Crain wants to control but Van Damned is keeping him busy.
Crain has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Van Damned!
Van Damned on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Van Damned tries to get out of the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Van Damned is in all sorts of trouble here.
Crain avoids the attempt from Van Damned to control.

Crain is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Crain!
