Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stu Diat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diat comes into the arena with Baby Elephant Walk blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stu Diat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Edwards!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edwards slips a jab and a cross from Diat.
Edwards keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Edwards clinches up with Diat and pushes him back against the ropes.

Diat has picked Edwards up - he's going for a ride! Diat dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are battling for position here. Edwards manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Edwards trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Edwards looking for a sweep. Not yet Edwards, not yet.

Edwards looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Edwards is trying to keep Diat in close.
Diat stands up over Edwards, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Diat throwing strikes from guard but Edwards blocks nicely.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Edwards wants to sweep here but Diat controlling him for the moment.

Diat makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Diat trying to control but Edwards is working from the bottom.
We've been hearing good reports from Diat's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Diat thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Diat chips away with some ground and pound.
Diat lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Edwards wants to stand and escape but Diat is having none of it.

Edwards is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Diat trying to control but Edwards is working from the bottom.

Our spies down at at Hilo Training Center inform us that Edwards has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Diat postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Diat is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Diat slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Diat scoring with punches and elbows.
Edwards is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Edwards looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Diat is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Diat slips a nice elbow through Edwards's hands, connecting with Edwards's forehead.
Diat is thwarting Edwards's attempts to control the position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Edwards is defending against the submission attempts here by Diat.

Diat is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Edwards defends it well.

Diat is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Edwards doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Diat.
Edwards is trying to control but can't.
Edwards works his way to full guard. Good work.
Diat is stalling in the full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Edwards trying to keep a closed guard but Diat is proving a slippery customer.
Diat loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diat decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Diat lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.


Edwards is rocked!

Diat is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Edwards has managed to free his arm - good work.
Edwards is still in real trouble! Can Diat finish him?
Diat scores with a big shot! Edwards's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Edwards! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stu Diat!
Stu Diat decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
