Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Roach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blas Kavcic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blas Kavcic will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bobby Roach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Blas Kavcic!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kavcic ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Roach dodges the punch combination from Kavcic.
Kavcic changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Roach tries to avoid it but Kavcic manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Roach to the ground. Roach escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Roach shoots in and gets a takedown into Kavcic's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Roach tries to free his leg and advance position but Kavcic is retaining full guard.
Roach passes Kavcic's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Roach trying to control from half guard but Kavcic is working away.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Kavcic is looking to improve his position.

Roach is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Roach trying to mount his opponent but Kavcic defends it.
Roach is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Roach unloads with some shots from mount but Kavcic bucks and avoids them well.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Roach is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kavcic to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kavcic shrugs it off.
Kavcic looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Kavcic sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Roach wants to work for an arm triangle but Kavcic is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Roach wants to control but Kavcic is keeping him busy.
Roach is just content to waste time from the top position. Kavcic takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Roach accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kavcic had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Roach defends it easily.

Roach stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kavcic swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Roach wants to pass the guard but Kavcic is keeping the position.
Roach is working hard here to advance position.
Roach is looking to work some ground and pound but Kavcic has wrist control.
Roach missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Roach stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kavcic swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kavcic controls Roach momentarily but Roach frees himself.
Kavcic wants to sweep but no luck.

Roach loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kavcic looking for a sweep. Not yet Kavcic, not yet.
Kavcic seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Kavcic trying to keep a closed guard but Roach is proving a slippery customer.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Blas Kavcic was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Roach jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Roach shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Roach showed some decent athleticism there.
Kavcic regains full guard. Nicely done.
Roach looking to sit in guard and control but Kavcic gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Kavcic is working Roach over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Roach has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kavcic is trying to control the action in half guard but Roach is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Roach is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kavcic pulls his head out easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Roach is pressing down on Kavcic's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Roach's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kavcic stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kavcic wants it to stay on the feet.

A looping hook to the body misses from Roach. Kavcic does a little dance to reset his feet.
Roach shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kavcic defends it nicely.

Roach will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Roach looks for a takedown but Kavcic sprawls well.

Kavcic has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Roach is working away from the top position though.
Kavcic wants to improve his position but Roach is controlling well.
Roach tries to pass to full mount but Kavcic defends it.
Roach wants to take a breather but Kavcic is having none of it.
Kavcic makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kavcic.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Kavcic has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Roach defend it? Kavcic steps over the head and cranks it - Roach is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Kavcic!

A very excited looking Blas Kavcic made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
