PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Justus Sheehan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blake Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Sheehan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Under the Dome. Justus Sheehan could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Blake Nash's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Justus Sheehan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Blake Nash!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Nash misses
and Sheehan counters with a stiff right hand.


It looks like Blake Nash has been cut.
Nash is looking to land body kicks.
Nash lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Justus Sheehan has been cut.
Sheehan connects with an inside leg kick.
Sheehan misses with a double jab
and Nash counters with an inside leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Nash.

Nash forces Sheehan back against the cage and clinches.

Nash breaks from the clinch.

Sheehan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Nash tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sheehan wants to control from the top but Nash keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nash not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Sheehan trying to control but Nash is working from the bottom.
Sheehan looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Justus Sheehan just wasn't active enough.
Sheehan connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Blake Nash is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sheehan chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Nash can pounce on him.
Sheehan throws a body kick that misses
and Nash counters with a big head kick but Sheehan shrugs it off.
Sheehan definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Sheehan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nash moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sheehan tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nash thumps Sheehan with a low kick.

Nash lands a big head kick that sends Sheehan tumbling to the mat! Nash takes a step backwards and waves Sheehan back to his feet - he wants the finish!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nash tries to clinch but Sheehan moves out of range.
Nash throws a quick inside leg kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Sheehan crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Nash - the referee stops the clock and Sheehan gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Nash. Sheehan manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Nash throws a low kick but it's checked well by Sheehan.
Sheehan keeps the fight on the outside.
We've been informed that Nash has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Sheehan throws a right hand that Nash ducks under and follows up with a left that Nash also avoids with ease.

Nash clinches.

Sheehan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sheehan takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Nash throws a leg kick
and Sheehan counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Nash thinking.
Sheehan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sheehan dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A chopping leg kick lands by Nash.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sheehan is defended easily by Nash.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nash just misses with a punch to the body.
Sheehan tries to land a leg kick but Nash saw it coming and moves away.
Nash stuffs the takedown attempt from Sheehan. Sheehan gets slowly back to his feet.
Sheehan lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Nash moves out of range of the leg kick from Sheehan.
Nash does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Nash throws a leg kick but Sheehan checks it.
Nash misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sheehan on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Nash misses with a straight left.
Blake Nash seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sheehan looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Sheehan tries for a takedown but Nash sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justus Sheehan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nash lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sheehan cracks Nash with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Nash cracks Sheehan with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.


Sheehan is rocked!
Sheehan misses with a wild combination.
Sheehan shoots in but no luck this time.
Nash misses with a low kick.
Sheehan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Oh Sheehan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sheehan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Nash.

Nash clinches up with Sheehan and pushes him back against the cage.
Sheehan seems to have got his legs back now.
Nash struggles to land a body shot inside as Sheehan controls his hands.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nash gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Sheehan.
Nash lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blake Nash dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Sheehan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Nash lands with an uppercut that bounces Sheehan off the cage and back into range.

Sheehan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nash was covering up waiting for the punch and Sheehan finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Sheehan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Sheehan looking to sit in guard and control but Nash gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sheehan keeping moving, preventing Nash from controlling successfully.

Sheehan wants to sweep but no luck.

Sheehan looking for a guillotine here but Nash defends easily.
Sheehan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Sheehan working for a triangle but Nash defends it easily.
Nash stopping the sweep attempt from Sheehan.
Nash must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sheehan is working hard here to advance position.

Nash stands up from Sheehan's guard - Nash perhaps looking for a knockout.
Sheehan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Nash avoids it really well and circles away.
A jab from Sheehan does it's job there.

Nash has closed the distance and engaged Sheehan in a clinch.
Nash pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Nash creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Sheehan's defenses.

Nash is fighting off a takedown attempt but Sheehan is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Nash to the mat. Nash regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Sheehan advances to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sheehan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nash doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sheehan.
Nash is trying to get back to full guard.

Sheehan seems to be looking for submissions.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nash gets back to full guard.
Sheehan trying to control but Nash is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Justus Sheehan dominated that second round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Sheehan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Sheehan connects with a good right hand that stumbles Nash. Nash circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Nash pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Nash fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Sheehan is out of range.
Sheehan has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Nash.
Nash dodges the punch combination from Sheehan.
Nash steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sheehan.
A slapping leg kick lands for Nash.
Nash lands a jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sheehan misses with an attempted mid kick.
Nash throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Sheehan throws a poor cross that misses
and Sheehan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Sheehan chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Nash can pounce on him.
A solid leg kick lands there for Nash.
Nash throws a sloppy head kick and Sheehan moves out of range easily.
Justus Sheehan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nash lands a head kick!
Nash walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Sheehan drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Nash swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Sheehan's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
