PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Eberhart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ghee Buttersnaps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eberhart comes to the cage accompanied by South Side. Buttersnaps has chosen Move on Up - Curtis Mayfield as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andrew Eberhart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ghee Buttersnaps!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buttersnaps stalks Eberhart and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Eberhart's face. Eberhart staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Andrew Eberhart has been cut.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Eberhart.
Buttersnaps connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Buttersnaps throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Eberhart stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Eberhart on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Buttersnaps pushes Eberhart up against the cage in a clinch.
Eberhart wants to get back to striking at distance but Buttersnaps won't allow it.
Come on Buttersnaps - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Buttersnaps creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Buttersnaps taking a breather.
Eberhart is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Eberhart tries to circle away but Buttersnaps has him pinned against the cage.

Buttersnaps manages to break the clinch.
Eberhart connects with a nice looking jab.
Eberhart fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Eberhart shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Buttersnaps sprawls well. Buttersnaps wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Eberhart gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrew Eberhart. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Eberhart closes the distance and clinches up with Buttersnaps, looking for a takedown. Eberhart pushes Buttersnaps against the cage but Buttersnaps circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Eberhart.
Eberhart avoids a punch combination nicely.
Eberhart takes one to the chin there.
Eberhart walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Nice uppercut there from Buttersnaps.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Eberhart throws an off balance right hand

and Buttersnaps holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Buttersnaps stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Buttersnaps lands with a short head shot on the inside.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Buttersnaps manages to break the clinch.
Eberhart jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Eberhart has his takedown stuffed

and Buttersnaps counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Eberhart has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Eberhart flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Buttersnaps prevents Eberhart from improving his position.

Eberhart looking for subs from the bottom but Buttersnaps mounts him!
Eberhart can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Buttersnaps is standing up, even though he is in mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nice defenses there by Buttersnaps.
Eberhart goes for a double leg but Buttersnaps avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Buttersnaps continues to drive forward.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ghee Buttersnaps dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Andrew Eberhart's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Eberhart takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Eberhart misses with a takedown attempt - Buttersnaps sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Eberhart throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Buttersnaps was covering up waiting for the punch and Eberhart finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Buttersnaps is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Eberhart trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Eberhart working some strikes from top position.
Eberhart working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Eberhart postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Eberhart throws an elbow that misses. Buttersnaps uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Eberhart's guard. Nice move by Buttersnaps!

Eberhart working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Buttersnaps doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Eberhart is tightening it up a little... Buttersnaps has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Buttersnaps reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Buttersnaps taps out! Nice BJJ there by Eberhart!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Andrew Eberhart!
