PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jah Fire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Buma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fire comes into the arena with Never blaring out of the sound system. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jah Fire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jacob Buma!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buma cracks Fire with a right hand to the side of the head.
Buma shoots in but Fire avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Buma misses with a double jab.
Buma looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Buma shoots in but Fire avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jah Fire has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Buma.

Fire gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Fire avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Fire preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Fire knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Buma on the ground.

Buma has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Buma throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fire tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Buma is in Fire's guard.
Fire is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Buma is controlling him.

Buma drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Buma jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Buma controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
It looks like Buma might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Jacob Buma has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Buma throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Fire on the side of the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Buma feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Buma is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Fire not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Fire keeping moving, preventing Buma from controlling successfully.

Jah Fire has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Fire stuffs the takedown.
Fire throws a big shot that misses.
Fire takes a jab right on the kisser.
Buma closes the distance and clinches up with Fire, looking for a takedown. Buma pushes Fire against the cage but Fire circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Fire tries to clinch but Buma is having none of it.
We've been told by Fire's head coaches at The Immortals Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Buma shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Buma was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Buma misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!


Buma circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nice straight punches there by Buma. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Buma.
Buma misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Buma tries for a takedown but Fire sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
No luck for Buma with that takedown attempt.

Buma manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Fire on his heels. He'll look to pass Fire's guard now, I'm sure.
Fire is trying to keep Buma in close.
Fire managing to control the position.

Buma drops back looking for a leg! Fire is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fire manages to kick Buma off! Buma jumps back into Fire's guard.

Buma tries to free his leg and advance position but Fire is retaining full guard.
Buma controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Buma is standing up over Fire. Fire looks to escape but Buma dives into side control.

Buma tries for a kimura but Fire is defending well.
Fire looks to move to half guard but instead Buma has passed into mount! Damn!

Buma is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Fire to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Fire shrugs it off.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fire is wriggling around trying to escape.
Buma controlling the position easily from mount.
Buma trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Buma putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Buma looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Buma with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Buma moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Fire has worked his arm free - good work by Fire!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jacob Buma showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Fire's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Buma shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Buma is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Fire is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Fire has escaped and now he's on top!

Fire got a little sloppy there for a moment and Buma has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fire has managed to get both his arms back between Buma's legs - danger averted.
Jacob Buma has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Buma is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Fire is aware though and is defending well.
Fire has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Fire is looking to stand up but Buma won't let him.

Buma looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Buma is looking to cinch up a triangle. Fire throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Buma's body to avoid the submission. Buma has instead reached around Fire's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Buma arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jacob Buma!
