Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Townsend (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Barron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pedro Townsend!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carl Barron!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Townsend tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Barron paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Townsend shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Townsend gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Barron cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Pedro Townsend has been cut.

Barron changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Townsend looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Townsend is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Townsend keeping his opponent close.

Barron goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Townsend has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Barron but great work by Townsend.
Townsend wants to control but Barron is keeping him busy.
Barron can't do much from the bottom here.
Townsend really is a fat lump.

Barron is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Townsend off and has taken his back!
Townsend tries to roll but Barron sticks to his back.

Barron is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Townsend up.

Barron is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Townsend is defending well though. Barron let's go of the attempt for now.

Barron is not going to allow Townsend to sit and survive in this position.
Barron controlling the position well here. Townsend rolled but Barron kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Townsend looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Townsend tries to escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Townsend trying to control but not successfully.
Barron struggling to keep hold of the position.

Barron patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Barron gets his hands free as Townsend looks to control.

Townsend looking very determined here, making life difficult for Barron.
Barron is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Barron is controlling the position but Townsend somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Barron prevents Townsend from improving his position.
Well, if Barron is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Townsend wants to improve his position but Barron is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carl Barron dominated that round.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Barron with a lazy takedown attempt

and Townsend decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Barron's guard.
Townsend's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Barron has a closed guard, preventing Townsend from standing up.
Townsend tries to free his leg and advance position but Barron is retaining full guard.
Barron throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Barron. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Townsend won't allow Barron to sweep him here.
Townsend would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Townsend wants to control from the top but Barron keeps moving.
Townsend wants to pass the guard but Barron is keeping the position.
Townsend might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Barron trying to keep a closed guard but Townsend is proving a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Pedro Townsend.
Townsend shoots in and drives through. Barron sprawls well.

Barron fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Townsend, pushing him back against the cage.

Barron's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Townsend has closed the distance and engaged Barron in a clinch.
Barron is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Townsend gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Barron stalling in the clinch but Townsend improves position.
Barron goes for a takedown attempt but Townsend pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Pedro Townsend has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Barron.
Townsend thows a body shot but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Townsend shoots in for a takedown but Barron shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Townsend tries to clinch up.
Barron shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Townsend defends it nicely.
Barron is breathing heavily.
Barron misses with a body kick.
Barron is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Townsend throws a leg kick but Barron sees it coming and moves out of range.

Barron has Townsend up against the cage in a clinch.

Barron has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Townsend clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Townsend tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Townsend regains half guard.

Townsend has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Barron. Oh but Townsend has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Barron goes limp - he's gone! Townsend jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Pedro Townsend!
