Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark McGillivary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Landon West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Landon West will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark McGillivary!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Landon West!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGillivary changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. West looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

McGillivary thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
West tries to bench press McGillivary off him but McGillivary keeps the position.

McGillivary is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. West knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
McGillivary wants to control for a moment but West uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

McGillivary looking for a submission but West manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
West is trying to keep McGillivary in close.

McGillivary sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed West's guard.

McGillivary is looking for a kimura here.
McGillivary trying to mount his opponent but West defends it.

McGillivary is working for a kimura but West is defending it quite comfortably.

McGillivary is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

West works his way to full guard. Good work.

McGillivary drops back looking for a leg! West is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and West manages to kick McGillivary off! McGillivary jumps back into West's guard.
McGillivary pushing down on West's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
West moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

West is trying to control the position but McGillivary postures up.
McGillivary slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
McGillivary wants to control from the top but West keeps moving.
McGillivary looking to pass the guard.
We've been informed that West has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McGillivary doesn't succeed with the takedown
and West counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. McGillivary is lucky that one didn't land flush.
West throws a right hand that McGillivary ducks under and follows up with a left that McGillivary also avoids with ease.
West lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Good leg kick by West there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
West throws a left and a right that both miss

and McGillivary counters by clinching up.

West works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
West wants to control from the top but McGillivary keeps moving.
McGillivary has West pulled in close to control his posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
West in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark McGillivary dominated that round.
That's time! McGillivary's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


West shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
McGillivary dives in for a single leg takedown but West sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

West gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
West trying to control but McGillivary is working from the bottom.
West really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McGillivary. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McGillivary is adopting a defensive guard.
McGillivary wants to sweep but no luck.

West wants to control from the top but McGillivary keeps moving.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Landon West hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
West displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McGillivary.
West tries to score with a low kick but McGillivary moves his leg out of the way.
A combination from West does no damage.
Horrible takedown by McGillivary or perhaps it was just good defense by West which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark McGillivary. That's going to take a lot out of him.
West misses with a low kick.
West tries to bum rush McGillivary with a series of wild strikes but McGillivary uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McGillivary blocks the body kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McGillivary.
Landon West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
West goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
McGillivary changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. West tries to avoid it but McGillivary manages to keep hold of a leg and drag West to the ground. West escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

West throws a sloppy head kick
and McGillivary makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. West really felt that one!
West throws a leg kick but McGillivary sees it coming and checks it nicely.
McGillivary shoots in for a takedown but West shows good takedown defense.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McGillivary shoots in and drives through. West sprawls well.
McGillivary fails with the takedown
and West counters with a thumping low kick.
Mark McGillivary is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
West lands with a thumping leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
West displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.


It looks like Mark McGillivary has been cut.
West throws a front kick that sends McGillivary stumbling back into the cage.
West lands with a nice body kick.
West shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. McGillivary eats them both and turns towards West to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
West looks to land a combination but McGillivary avoids it well.
West misses with a double jab.
West connects with a leg kick. McGillivary looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Sloppy strikes from West. Those never looked like landing.

West connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
West connects with a solid leg kick.
West misses with a few strikes there.
McGillivary takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
McGillivary moves out of range as West throws a body kick.
West jabbing away but nothing is landing.
West tries to bum rush McGillivary with a series of wild strikes but McGillivary uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Danga de danga de dang - West scores with a four punch combination!
McGillivary misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
West misses with a two punch combination.
West throws a body kick that misses
and McGillivary counters with a lovely straight right hand!
McGillivary dives in for a single leg takedown but West sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
West misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from McGillivary.

West is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. McGillivary can't fight it off and eventually West manages to take the fight to the floor. McGillivary looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
McGillivary is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now McGillivary is on top in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
West keeping full guard, as McGillivary tries to pass.
West wants to sweep here but McGillivary controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Landon West showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Mark McGillivary's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


West pivots, looking for a leg kick but McGillivary is out of range and West settles back down.
McGillivary checks the leg kick nicely there.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from McGillivary is defended easily by West.
McGillivary slips a jab and a cross from West.
McGillivary shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and West counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
West leaves McGillivary with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark McGillivary. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McGillivary shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than McGillivary was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Mark McGillivary overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

McGillivary tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McGillivary has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
West is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

A lull in the action here as McGillivary stalls from top position.
McGillivary tries to advance to mount but can't.
West is looking to reverse the position.

McGillivary is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but West is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

McGillivary working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

McGillivary is trying to get an arm triangle but West is defending well.
West is looking to reverse the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
West is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
McGillivary happy to just control the position for now.
McGillivary tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
West pushes McGillivary away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, McGillivary gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
McGillivary content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

McGillivary works to advance to full mount. West defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Mark McGillivary showed his dominance in that final round.
