The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rudabaker lands an overhand right.
Rudabaker shoots in but Jefferson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Tommy Rudabaker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jefferson avoids the body shot from Rudabaker.
Rudabaker tries to close the distance and clinch but Jefferson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rudabaker throws a hook but Jefferson avoids it easily.
Jefferson moves out of range as Rudabaker throws a body kick.
Rudabaker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jefferson's waist but Jefferson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rudabaker off to one side.
Rudabaker tries to bum rush Jefferson with a series of wild strikes but Jefferson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Jefferson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rudabaker's guard.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Jefferson controlling the positon.
Jefferson is trying to stick to Rudabaker's back but Rudabaker is turning into Jefferson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Jefferson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Rudabaker.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Rudabaker is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Rudabaker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jefferson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Jefferson leaves Rudabaker with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jefferson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jefferson wants it to stay on the feet.
Rudabaker shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jefferson but Jefferson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
