Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yatzhee James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James comes to the cage accompanied by Green Day - King For A Day. Yatzhee James has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yatzhee James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Barnett!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from James. Those never looked like landing.
A right-left combo lands from James.


It looks like Josh Barnett has been cut.

A jab-cross combination lands for James and sends Barnett crashing to the mat! James follows him down to the mat - Barnett regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Barnett is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Barnett holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
James is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Barnett manages to get to full guard.
James wanted to stand there but Barnett had control of the position.
James loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Barnett pulls James in close to prevent any damage.
Barnett bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in James's guard.
Barnett forces his way into half guard.

Barnett wants to free his trapped foot but James is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Barnett in particular looking to stall.
Barnett's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Josh Barnett.
Barnett with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling James to score with a decent uppercut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James fails in his attempt to clinch.
James scores with a three punch combo!
James's jab looks to have found its range, popping Barnett under the eye.


That has opened up Josh Barnett's cut even more.
James throws a right and a left that both miss.

Barnett scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
James takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barnett on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James seems a little lost for a moment, as Barnett dominates the positioning.
Barnett scores with punches from side control.
Barnett lands some shots froms side control.
James tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James is breathing heavily.
James wants to get back to his feet.
Barnett breaks from James's wrist control and lands an elbow.
James on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if James tries to get out of the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Barnett controlling his opponent.
Barnett pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Barnett controlling the position easily from mount.
Barnett lands with some strikes.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Barnett content just to control the position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Josh Barnett will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Josh Barnett's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


James scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Barnett slips a jab and a cross from James.

and Barnett counters with a nice double leg into side control. James won't be happy with that.

Barnett tries to score with some ground and pound. James controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Barnett cracks James with a big elbow.


James is rocked!

Barnett lands a strong strike to the head of James. That's dazed him! Barnett looking to finish here. James is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Barnett lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Josh Barnett!
Josh Barnett was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
Yatzhee James was interviewed post fight and said 'A king does not accept defeat. I am still undefeated. I am still the king.'.
