Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Miroslav Skvec (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Araya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tom Araya is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miroslav Skvec!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tom Araya!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, David Schapiro and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Araya.

Skvec closes the distance and clinches.

Skvec gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Araya has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Skvec is working away from the top position though.
Araya wants to get back to full guard.
Skvec sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Skvec wants to control but Araya is keeping him busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Miroslav Skvec.
Araya fails with the takedown.

Skvec misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Skvec throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Araya was covering up waiting for the punch and Skvec finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Skvec would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Skvec gets to his feet - Araya follows without any prompting.
Araya leaves Skvec with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Skvec slaps away a takedown attempt from Araya, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Miroslav Skvec has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Araya.

Araya bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Skvec is looking for a sweep.
Araya is looking to take a break and control but Skvec is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Skvec wants to control but Araya postures up.

Araya throws a series of strikes and Skvec wriggles onto his back, so he's now mounted. He's in real trouble here.
Araya prevents Skvec from getting the reversal.
Skvec wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Skvec tries to escape the position.
Skvec trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Skvec is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Araya controlling the positon.
You can see the frustration on Skvec's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Skvec stuffs the takedown attempt from Araya. Araya gets slowly back to his feet.
Araya thuds a left hand into Skvec's body.
Araya works over Skvec's head and body with a nice combination.

The referee is keeping an eye on Skvec - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Skvec turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Skvec seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Araya for as long as he can get away with.

Araya gets caught napping as Skvec dives in and scores a takedown. Araya manages to retain guard.
Skvec knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Araya on the ground.

Araya moves in looking to clinch but Skvec pushes him off.
Araya lands a nice hook to Skvec's body. Skvec takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Skvec shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Araya manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Skvec decides to stand up, so the ref orders Araya to his feet.

Skvec fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Araya to the ground. Skvec is now in Araya's guard.
Skvec has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Skvec slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Araya is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Araya is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Skvec landing knees to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Araya is trying to push Skvec away but Skvec has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Araya is fighting off a takedown attempt but Skvec is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Araya to the mat. Araya regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
Miroslav Skvec showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Skvec, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
