Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jean Luc Beauregard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darius Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Darius Ellis will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jean Luc Beauregard!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darius Ellis!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ellis doesn't manage to clinch there - Beauregard circles away.
Beauregard could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ellis enables Beauregard to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ellis manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ellis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Beauregard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Beauregard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ellis is staying active underneath Beauregard, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Beauregard winds up and cracks Ellis with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We've been hearing good reports from Beauregard's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Ellis is looking for a sweep. Beauregard is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've been informed that Ellis has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Beauregard connects with a nice short shot to Ellis's temple.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ellis is still in real trouble! Can Beauregard finish him?
Beauregard lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Ellis quite badly. Ellis pulls Beauregard in close trying to recover. Beauregard postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Ellis on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Ellis doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jean Luc Beauregard!
Jean Luc Beauregard is the new lightweight champion!
Darius Ellis spoke after the fight, saying 'He is an excellent fighter and had a good gameplan. Nothing else to do now but get back in the gym'.
