Mustang comes to the cage accompanied by Little Rock. Phillips is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Wicked game. Roy Mustang has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Phillips!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mustang connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Phillips scrambles back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Phillips.

Mustang forces Phillips back against the cage and clinches.
Phillips is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Phillips struggles to land a body shot inside as Mustang controls his hands.
Phillips looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Phillips wants to take the fight to the mat but Mustang manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Phillips tries to stall but Mustang uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Phillips stops a takedown attempt from Mustang.
Phillips has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mustang avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Roy Mustang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Phillips.
Mustang blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Phillips throws a head punch that misses.
Phillips tries a body shot but Mustang blocks it.

Phillips misses with some punches.
Phillips has Mustang pressed against the cage.
Phillips misses with the head strike.

Mustang has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Phillips regains guard immediately.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Mustang trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Phillips being controlled here, momentarily.
Mustang forces his way into half guard.

Mustang is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Mustang thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Mustang is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Phillips defends it well.

Mustang is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Phillips looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Mustang is looking to take a break and control but Phillips is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mustang wants to free his trapped foot but Phillips is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Phillips is not content to let Mustang control the position.
Mustang will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Phillips is looking for a sweep. Mustang is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've been hearing good reports from Mustang's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Phillips is pressing down on Mustang's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Mustang drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Phillips manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mustang has Phillips in his guard.
Mustang seems keen to control Phillips's posture.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Phillips throws a strike but Mustang rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Mustang trying to move into half guard but instead Phillips has managed to sweep!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Phillips working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roy Mustang dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



A momentary lapse in concentration from Mustang enables Phillips to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mustang manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Mustang is pulling down on Phillips's head to control his posture.
Phillips throws an elbow that misses. Mustang uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Phillips's guard. Nice move by Mustang!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mustang accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Phillips keeping moving, preventing Mustang from controlling successfully.
Mustang throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Phillips works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Phillips looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mustang stands and throws Phillips's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Mustang throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Mustang wants to lay and pray for a moment but Phillips keeps working.

Mustang wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Phillips, who protects the arm well.

Mustang is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Phillips is trying to escape and Mustang transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Phillips is forced to tap! Nice work there by Mustang! Very nice indeed!
