The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meira misses with a takedown attempt

and Henderson moves into the clinch.
Henderson stops a takedown attempt from Meira.
Henderson tries for a takedown but Meira manages to get underhooks.
Meira has Henderson pressed against the cage, preventing Henderson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Meira is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Meira gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Henderson is doing well to control the position and prevent Meira from advancing to side control.
Meira looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Henderson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Meira has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Meira is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Henderson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Meira controlling the pace.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Henderson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Meira content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Carlos Meira has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Meira wants to clinch.
Carlos Meira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Meira tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Henderson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Meira is defended easily by Henderson.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Meira. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Meira fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Henderson, pushing him back against the cage.

Meira has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Henderson uses from the top position.
Meira wants to sweep but no luck.
Henderson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Meira. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
