Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raphael Newman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Raphael Newman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newman fails with an attempt to clinch.

Velasquez shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Velasquez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Newman is trying to control but can't.

Velasquez trying to mount his opponent but Newman defends it.

Cain Velasquez has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Newman wants to control his opponent's hands but Velasquez gets his hands free.

Velasquez is looking to control Newman but Newman is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Newman has hold of Velasquez's arm. He needs to escape this position sooner or later but for now he's happy enough to control the position and prevent the submission attempts.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Newman tries to break free.
Velasquez lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Velasquez.

Velasquez looking to break Newman's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Newman remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Velasquez will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Newman looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Velasquez is punishing Newman with some ground and pound.
Velasquez lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Newman hold on?!

Velasquez is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Newman knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Newman for a finish.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Velasquez lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Newman has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Newman and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Velasquez can't do much from the bottom here.
Velasquez wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Velasquez is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Cain Velasquez has got the better of the ground game so far.
Newman wants to stand but Velasquez has his arm trapped.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Velasquez regains half guard.
Velasquez is concentrating on defense, preventing Newman from advancing position.
Velasquez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Newman's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Newman's back!

Velasquez is persistently looking for the submission but Newman is defending it well.

Velasquez is landing with strikes. Newman can't take much more of this.
Velasquez controls the position.
Let's hope that Velasquez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Velasquez is wriggling around but Newman manages to pass to half guard.

Velasquez is staying active underneath Newman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Velasquez wants to improve his position but Newman is controlling well.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Velasquez can do anything to dispel that myth.
Velasquez gets back to full guard.
Velasquez looking for a sweep. Not yet Velasquez, not yet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Newman stops Velasquez from standing up.

Cain Velasquez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Velasquez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Velasquez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Newman wants to clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Velasquez.
Velasquez throws a series of punches but Newman avoids them all with ease.
Velasquez shoots in looking for a takedown but Newman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Velasquez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Velasquez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Newman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Velasquez was covering up waiting for the punch and Newman finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Velasquez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Velasquez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Newman!

Velasquez is trying to stick to Newman's back but Newman is turning into Velasquez. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Velasquez's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Newman.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Velasquez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Velasquez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Newman's guard.

Newman is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Velasquez dives into side control.

Newman takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Velasquez goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Newman has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Velasquez but great work by Newman.

Cain Velasquez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Velasquez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
