Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between J R Crain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Pimentel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Pimentel !
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pimentel scores with a one two! Crain had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Crain fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A clash of legs there as Crain blocks the low kick.
Crain is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pimentel sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Pimentel scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Crain has Pimentel up against the cage in a clinch.
Crain blocking some punches.
A head punch on the inside from Pimentel fails to land.
Crain blocks a body shot from Pimentel .

Crain turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Crain manages to end up in side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pimentel is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Crain's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Crain is keen to just control but Pimentel is a slippery customer.

Crain is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pimentel is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Crain is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pimentel sees it coming and defends easily.
Pimentel is concentrating on defense, preventing Crain from advancing position.

Crain is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pimentel sees it coming and defends easily.
Pimentel is trying to maintain the position but Crain is very close to passing his half guard.

Crain is looking for a kimura but Pimentel is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Crain to get the leverage.

Crain thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pimentel 's head.
Pimentel tries to roll over but Crain keeps him under control.
Pimentel is staying active underneath Crain, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Pimentel felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

John Pimentel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Crain got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pimentel has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Crain has managed to get both his arms back between Pimentel 's legs - danger averted.

Crain bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pimentel 's guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Crain fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pimentel to the ground. Crain is now in Pimentel 's guard.

Crain tries to free his leg and advance position but Pimentel is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pimentel is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Crain has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pimentel is proving hard to escape from.
Pimentel wants to sweep here but Crain controlling him for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Crain shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Pimentel stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pimentel wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for J R Crain. That's going to take a lot out of him.

J R Crain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Crain counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Crain.

A frustrated look appears on Crain's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Crain tries to pull guard but Pimentel holds him up against the cage and eventually Crain drops back down to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pimentel throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Crains head.
Pimentel lands with a light punch inside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Pimentel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Pimentel throws a front kick aimed at Crain's knee but Crain avoids it well.
Pimentel rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Crain moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Pimentel tries to free his leg and advance position but Crain is retaining full guard.
Pimentel wants to control from the top but Crain keeps moving.

J R Crain overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Pimentel avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Crain trying to keep a closed guard but Pimentel is proving a slippery customer.
Pimentel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Crain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Crain wants to get back to his feet but Pimentel is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pimentel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pimentel fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Crain on the side of the head.

Pimentel lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Pimentel lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Pimentel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Crain.
Crain has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pimentel throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pimentel fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Crain has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Pimentel throws out a leg kick but Crain moves out of range and Pimentel only half commits.

Pimentel tries to keep at a distance but Crain has taken the fight into the clinch.
Pimentel tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Pimentel lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Crain.

John Pimentel is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Crain lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Pimentel or not.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to J R Crain.
I think Pimentel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
