Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fernando Park!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Conrad Jones!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Park shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jones sprawls well. Jones wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Park gets slowly back to his feet.
Park throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily.
Park is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Park paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jones dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Park changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Park manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Park looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Park takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Park is breathing heavily.

Park prevents Jones from standing back up.
Jones is trying to maintain the position but Park is very close to passing his half guard.
Jones is trying to stand up here but Park is controlling him well.
Jones wants to get back to full guard but Park has passed into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Park wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.

Jones wants to get back to his feet but Park is dominant here and he's now got Jones's back!
Park just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Park is not going to allow Jones to sit and survive in this position.
Jones covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

Park gets underhooks to prevent Jones's takedown attempt.

Park utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Park is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Park tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jones lands a couple of digs.

Park has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jones trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Jones trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Park manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Park is looking to pass into half guard but Jones pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Jones is in guard.

Jones drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Park manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jones has Park in his guard.

Park pushes down on Jones's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Park working over Jones with some ground and pound. Jones looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Park slows the pace down in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Park throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease.
Park has a takedown stuffed.
Park misses with a double jab
and Jones counters with a three punch combo that has Park backing up. Park nods at Jones to acknowledge the strikes.

Park closes the distance and clinches.
Park keeps control of Jones as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Park breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jones scores with a head kick. Park tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Park misses with the body kick
and Jones counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.


Park is rocked!
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Park swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jones slaps away a takedown attempt from Park, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Park changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jones looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Jones throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones tries to bum rush Park with a series of wild strikes but Park uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Park tries a head kick but it misses.
Park stuffs the takedown.
Fernando Park is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Fernando Park overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Conrad Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Park has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jones uses from the top position.

Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Park swivels though and keeps the full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fernando Park.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Park, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
