PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Peter Todaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abdullah Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slice comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Last Resort-Papa Roach kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter Todaro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Abdullah Slice!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Todaro darts in looking for a takedown but Slice gets double underhooks and turns Todaro into the cage.

Todaro wants to take the fight to the mat but Slice manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Todaro. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Todaro turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Todaro manages to end up in side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Todaro working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Slice is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Todaro could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Todaro swings around for an armbar but Slice sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Todaro's guard.
Todaro has momentary wrist control but Slice slips an elbow through the middle.
Slice postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Slice postures up in Todaro's guard and throws a big left but Todaro blocks it.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Slice working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Todaro is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've been hearing good reports from Todaro's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Slice's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Slice chips away with some ground and pound.

Todaro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Slice can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Slice postures up and lands a big shot to Todaro's brow.
Slice is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Slice is in close to Todaro's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Todaro keeping moving, preventing Slice from controlling successfully.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Todaro really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Slice lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Todaro is trying to control but can't.
Slice slips a nice elbow through Todaro's hands, connecting with Todaro's forehead.
Todaro is trying to maintain the position but Slice is very close to passing his half guard.
Slice is pressing down on Todaro's thigh, looking to free his foot. Todaro is holding on for now.

Slice looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Todaro might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Slice landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Slice lands with a punch from half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Slice connects with a nice short shot to Todaro's temple.
Todaro misses with some strikes from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Todaro wants to control but Slice is keeping busy.
Slice looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Todaro with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Todaro is trying to maintain the position but Slice is very close to passing his half guard.
Todaro moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Slice's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Slice with a nice head shot there.
Slice cracks Todaro with a solid left hand.

Todaro looking for a guillotine here but Slice defends easily.

Todaro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Slice gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Slice content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Slice scoring with some ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Todaro is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Slice postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Todaro working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Slice doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Slice manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Slice makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Todaro had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Slice defends it easily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Slice wants to control from the top but Todaro keeps moving.
Todaro looking to hit a scissor sweep but Slice is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Abdullah Slice will probably get the nod.

Slice throws a combination. Todaro tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Todaro takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Slice throws a series of strikes that have Todaro backpedaling.


It looks like Peter Todaro has been cut.
Slice connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Todaro to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Slice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Abdullah Slice!
Abdullah Slice decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
