Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kurtis Mejia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Beast Mode!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Radbod Blank and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mode avoids the head kick by Mejia.
Mode wants to clinch up but Mejia keeps it at a distance.

Mejia shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mode napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Mode tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mode avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mejia.

Mejia thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Mode tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Mejia has the hooks in. Mode is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Mode looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mode rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
It looks like Mejia is going to stand back up.
Kurtis Mejia overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mode is looking for a sweep. Mejia is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mode tries to roll over but Mejia keeps him under control.

Mejia wants to stand up but Mode has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Mejia is taking a breather. Mode says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Mode has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Mejia is on him like a limpet, forcing Mode back against the cage.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Mejia wants to stand and escape but Mode is having none of it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kurtis Mejia will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Mode changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mejia tries to avoid it but Mode manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mejia to the ground. Mejia escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mejia looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Mejia takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mejia looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mode with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
