PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bubba Gump (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bull Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gump comes to the cage accompanied by Fucking Hostile - Pantera. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bubba Gump!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bull Dog!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dog moves out of range of the strikes.
Dog throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Dog misses with a looping right.

Gump closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Gump is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Dog gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Gump lands with a short shot to the head.
Dog lands a right hand.
Dog wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gump has him pressed against the cage.
Gump misses with a punch on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from Gump fails to land.
Dog just leaning against Gump, taking a breather.

Dog breaks the clinch.
Dog ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Dog enables Gump to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dog manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Dog utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gump accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gump stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dog swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gump working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Gump has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Gump postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gump throws a strike but Dog rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Gump is looking for a triangle but Dog pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gump is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Dog avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Gump working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dog doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dog manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gump is looking to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dog lunges at Gump with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Gump's hand.
Dog ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gump moves away.
Dog swings for the body but Gump moves out of range.
Gump jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Gump shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gump showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gump lands a nice short elbow.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dog is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Gump has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Gump seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dog does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gump lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Dog is not content to let Gump control the position.
Gump thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dog's head.

Gump is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dog is just riding it out for now. Gump eventually gives up the hold.
Gump thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Gump wants to pass the guard but Dog is defending well.
Dog blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gump.
Gump trying to mount his opponent but Dog defends it.
Gump working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Gump wants to take a breather but Dog is having none of it.

Gump sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Dog defending well though.
Gump has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Dog has one foot on Gump's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Dog throws an overhand right that lands on Gump's shoulder, as Gump tries to avoid the shot.
Gump has his takedown stuffed
and Dog connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gump fails with the takedown.
Dog connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gump. Gump circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gump scores with a nice head shot.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Gump shoots in looking for a takedown but Dog manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gump's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gump takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A punch lands to the side of Gump 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Dog misses with a hook.
Dog fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dog feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Gumps jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Gump misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dog.

Gump changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dog looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Bubba Gump overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gump throws an elbow but Dog slips to the side and avoids it well.
Gump wants to control but Dog is keeping him busy.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dog is letting Gump control him for a moment.
Dog parries the strikes from Gump easily there. Gump is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Dog to escape.

Gump is looking to take a break and control but Dog is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Gump looks up at the clock and then as Dog takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Gump smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gump, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
