The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grant doesn't manage to clinch there - Pettis circles away.
Pettis stuffs the takedown attempt from Grant. Grant gets slowly back to his feet.
Pettis is looking to clinch.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Grant enables Pettis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Grant manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Pettis not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Pettis tries to free his leg and advance position but Grant is retaining full guard.

Mauricio Pettis has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Grant uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pettis.
Pettis darts in looking for a takedown but Grant gets double underhooks and turns Pettis into the cage.

Pettis gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Grant is looking to improve his position.
Grant trying to hold on to Pettis's head to control him but Pettis postures up.
Pettis is controlling the pace.
Grant is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Pettis jumps into side control!

Pettis is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Grant looks calm but he's in trouble here. Pettis gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Grant is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Pettis lets go of the hold and Grant can pop his arm back in it's socket.
