Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Heath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jam Slinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Jam Slinger enters the ring!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Andrew Heath!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jam Slinger!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slinger swats away the attempt to clinch by Heath.

Slinger shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Slinger was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Slinger tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Heath gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Slinger wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Heath uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Heath is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Andrew Heath wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Heath tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Slinger defends well and Heath ends up having to push Slinger into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Heath tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Slinger smiles and moves away.

Slinger shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Heath is trying to defend but Slinger finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Heath wants to control but Slinger is keeping busy.
Heath wants to get back to full guard.
Slinger is nestled in close to Heath, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Heath is defending against the submission attempts here by Slinger.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Slinger working his ground and pound in the gym.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Heath controls Slinger momentarily but Slinger frees himself.
Slinger must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Heath wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Slinger is looking to work some ground and pound but Heath has wrist control.

We're going to have a standup here because Andrew Heath wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and Slinger counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Heath is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Heath tries to clinch there but Slinger circles away.
Heath will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Heath throws a sloppy head kick and Slinger moves out of range easily.

and Slinger counters with a series of strikes. Heath will be more careful next time no doubt.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Slinger.
Heath looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Slinger wanted to stand there but Heath had control of the position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Slinger shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Slinger showed some decent athleticism there.
Slinger has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Heath works to full guard.
Slinger has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Heath is proving hard to escape from.
Slinger won't allow Heath to sweep him here.
Slinger postures up and lands a big shot to Heath's brow.
Heath bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Slinger's guard.
Heath wants to stand but Slinger is controlling his posture from full guard.

Heath wants to control from the top but Slinger keeps moving.

Heath stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Heath shoots in for a takedown but Slinger shows good takedown defense.

Slinger changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Heath looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Heath enables Slinger to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Heath manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Slinger fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Heath sprawls well initially but Slinger persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Heath has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Slinger is working away from the top position though.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Heath wants to improve his position but Slinger is controlling well.
Slinger tries to stand and escape but Heath is controlling the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Slinger working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Heath has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Slinger is pushing him up against the ropes, looking to control the position.

Slinger's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Slinger is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Heath's half guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Heath is on top in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Slinger can do anything to dispel that myth.

I would just about give that final round to Jam Slinger.
Well Slinger has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
