Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucio Palhares!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Palhares goes for a takedown attempt but Shred pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Shred darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Palhares is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Shred pulls his head out easily.
Shred is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Palhares doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shred.

Shred thows a huge punch but Palhares dodges it nicely.
Shred thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Palhares's head.

Shred wants to pass the guard but Palhares is keeping the position.

Palhares moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Palhares is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Palhares seems to be working for a kimura but Shred defends the submission attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shred moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Shred controls Palhares momentarily but Palhares frees himself.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Palhares shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Shred counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shred is trying to work for a kimura but Palhares is defending well.

Shred wants to work for an arm triangle but Palhares is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Palhares working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shred doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shred manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Palhares is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Shred is surviving well by controlling Palhares's body position as best he can.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Palhares working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Shred looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Palhares! Submission of the night perhaps?
