PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Arrington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rutger Svensson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arrington comes to the cage accompanied by Thunderstruck. Rutger Svensson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rutger Svensson!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arrington displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Svensson.
Arrington shoots in for a takedown but Svensson shows good takedown defense.
Svensson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Arrington is fending him off so far but Svensson persists. Nope, Arrington circles away and we're back to standing.
Svensson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Arrington as he avoids it easily.
Ethan Arrington has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rutger Svensson.

Svensson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Svensson tries to free his leg and advance position but Arrington is retaining full guard.

Arrington knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Svensson on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rutger Svensson was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Svensson darts in and clinches Arrington up against the cage.

Svensson lands with an uppercut that bounces Arrington off the cage and back into range.
We've been told by Arrington's head coaches at Cozad MMA Montreal that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Svensson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
