Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Batou Otsuka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Batou Otsuka has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Pettis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Batou Otsuka! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Otsuka's corner calls for a 1-2. Otsuka obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Pettis definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Pettis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Pettis wants to pass to mount but Otsuka is defending the position. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pettis lands a nice short elbow. Pettis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Pettis is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Otsuka doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pettis. Otsuka looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pettis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Pettis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pettis trying to control the action but Otsuka is working from the bottom. Pettis not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Pettis keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Pettis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Johnny Pettis wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Otsuka misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Otsuka misses with a head kick.
Pettis avoids a punch combination nicely.
Otsuka throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Pettis fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Otsuka to the ground. Pettis is now in Otsuka's guard. Pettis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. This has been an exciting period of action! Pettis wants to control from the top but Otsuka keeps moving. Pettis looking to pass the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pettis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Johnny Pettis wasn't doing enough on the ground. Pettis tries to clinch up but Otsuka circles away and keeps his distance. Otsuka throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Pettis looking to score a takedown here. Otsuka is defending well but Pettis drives through and ends up in Otsuka's guard. Pettis wants to control from the top but Otsuka keeps moving. Pettis is stalling in the full guard.

Johnny Pettis has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Some wild striking there from Otsuka.
Pettis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Otsuka looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pettis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Otsuka keeps working. Pettis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Otsuka, who protects the arm well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pettis tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnny Pettis dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Otsuka takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
It looks like Batou Otsuka has been cut. Otsuka cracks Pettis with a right hand to the side of the head.

Pettis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pettis advances nicely into full mount. Pettis lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Otsuka hang on? Pettis working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Otsuka looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Pettis! Submission of the night perhaps?
