Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kimbo Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hector De Maris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kimbo Slice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hector De Maris!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Slice gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Slice could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
De Maris looking to stall.

Slice has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed De Maris clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Slice is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

Slice working for a choke but De Maris reverses nicely into Slice 's guard.
Slice keeping moving, preventing De Maris from controlling successfully.

Slice seems keen to control De Maris's posture.
De Maris trying to control but Slice is working from the bottom.
Slice preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Slice is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst De Maris is controlling him.
De Maris tries to free his leg and advance position but Slice is retaining full guard.
Slice wants to stand and escape but De Maris is having none of it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
De Maris scores with a jab. Slice acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
A left lands for De Maris.
De Maris stuns Slice with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Slice feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
De Maris utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Slice wants to control from the top but De Maris keeps moving.
De Maris is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Slice controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Slice wants to control from the top but De Maris keeps moving.
Slice knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for De Maris on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Kimbo Slice just wasn't active enough.
De Maris scores with the left hand. Slice knows he should have avoided that one.
De Maris tries to land a leg kick but Slice saw it coming and moves away.
De Maris uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Slice moves in looking to clinch but De Maris pushes him off.
Slice misses with a takedown attempt - De Maris sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Slice is breathing heavily.
De Maris stuffs the takedown attempt from Slice. Slice gets slowly back to his feet.

A punch lands to the side of Slice 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Slice wants to clinch.
De Maris scores with a nice right hand.

De Maris smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
De Maris catches Slice with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Slice shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
De Maris is pressing down on Slice's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

De Maris had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Slice defends it easily.
Slice won't allow De Maris to sweep him here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
De Maris doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Hector De Maris will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Slice throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. De Maris was covering up waiting for the punch and Slice finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Slice has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Slice preventing the sweep.
Slice keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of De Maris's head.
Slice throws an elbow that misses. De Maris uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Slice's guard. Nice move by De Maris!
De Maris is looking to work some ground and pound but Slice has wrist control.

De Maris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Slice swivels though and keeps the full guard.

De Maris stands and throws Slice's legs to the side, diving into side control.
De Maris is trying to ground and pound but Slice uses the momentary lack of control by De Maris to regain half guard.

De Maris wants to work for an arm triangle but Slice is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Slice is not content to let De Maris control the position.
De Maris passes to side control.
Slice is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, De Maris asserts his dominance and retains side control.

An elbow from De Maris crashes against the mat.
Slice struggling a bit here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
De Maris postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

De Maris wants to control for a moment but Slice uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
De Maris thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Slice's head.

Slice is staying active underneath De Maris, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
De Maris thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
De Maris moves into full mount! Slice won't be happy about that!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
De Maris misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hector De Maris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



A momentary lapse in concentration from De Maris enables Slice to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. De Maris manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Slice slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
De Maris has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Slice avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

De Maris is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Slice is aware though and is defending well.
Slice is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Slice postures up in De Maris's guard and throws a big left but De Maris blocks it.

Slice is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! De Maris is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! De Maris has escaped and now he's on top!

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Hector De Maris.
De Maris connects with a body shot.
De Maris throws a shot to the body.
De Maris lands a head shot.
De Maris tries to land a leg kick but Slice saw it coming and moves away.
De Maris cracks a nice hook into Slice's ribs.
De Maris connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
De Maris is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
De Maris throws a good cross that connects.
Hector De Maris is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
De Maris lands a glancing blow to the side of Slice's head.

Hector De Maris seems to be getting the better of the standup.
De Maris lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by De Maris.
Slice needs to keep his hands up - De Maris had a free shot at his head there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Slice fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but De Maris avoids it really well and circles away.
De Maris ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Slice takes one on the button.
Kimbo Slice seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Maris connects with a nice looking jab.
De Maris catches Slice with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Slice tries to clinch up but De Maris circles away and keeps his distance.
De Maris throws a shot to the body.
De Maris clobbers Slice with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Slice looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Slice walks into a jab.
Slice ducks right into an uppercut from De Maris.
Slice is looking to clinch but De Maris is avoiding it.
De Maris scores with a nice head shot.

Slice shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
De Maris manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
De Maris throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hector De Maris comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got De Maris winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
