Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mikhail Rusty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Cordes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mikhail Rusty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jorge Cordes!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Donatello Bradman and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rusty moves in looking to clinch but Cordes pushes him off.
Rusty lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Cordes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Cordes takes a little break here. Rusty wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Cordes tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Cordes just content to control the position.
Rusty tries to bench press Cordes off him but Cordes keeps the position.

Cordes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rusty, who protects the arm well.
Rusty is trying to control Cordes's posture but Cordes avoids it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cordes sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Rusty is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Rusty can't do much from the bottom here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Cordes dodges the punch combination from Rusty.
Rusty tries to clinch up but Cordes circles away and keeps his distance.
Rusty darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Rusty connects with a body shot.
An inside leg kick lands from Rusty.
Rusty with a lazy takedown attempt

and Cordes counters by clinching up.

Cordes has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Rusty is trying to keep an underhook but Cordes manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Rusty pushes Cordes off looking to stand but Cordes dives back in and keeps control.
Rusty trying to hold on to Cordes's head to control him but Cordes postures up.
Cordes not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Nice strikes from Cordes there.
Cordes is controlling the pace.
Cordes prevents Rusty from improving his position.

Rusty looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Rusty is trying to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rusty tries to kick Cordes off in order to stand up. Cordes Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Cordes just content to control the position.
Rusty is trying to get back to his feet.
Cordes advances nicely into full mount.
Cordes controlling the position easily from mount.
I looks like Cordes might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Rusty is looking to get to half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cordes scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Cordes works his way to his opponent's back.
Rusty turns into Cordes and is now in his guard.
Cordes has control of Rusty's left arm, preventing Rusty from doing any damage.
Rusty is looking to work some ground and pound but Cordes has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jorge Cordes dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Rusty throws a nice inside leg kick.
Rusty will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rusty moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Cordes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Rusty wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Cordes successfully pulls guard.
Cordes keeping moving, preventing Rusty from controlling successfully.
Cordes is pulling down on Rusty's head to control his posture.

Cordes has his foot on Rusty's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rusty works his way back into a safe position though.
Cordes wants to sweep but no luck.

Rusty would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Cordes tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rusty wants to stand but Cordes has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Rusty lands a nice leg kick that just misses Cordes's sensitive parts.

Cordes gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Rusty misses with a takedown attempt

and Cordes holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Rusty has had enough of the clinch but Cordes keeps him there for the moment.

Cordes manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Rusty postures up.
Cordes pulls Rusty in close to his closed guard and prevents Rusty from doing any damage or advancing position.
Cordes is breathing heavily.
Cordes lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rusty!
Rusty is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Rusty is wriggling around trying to escape.
Cordes controlling his opponent.

Rusty takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Rusty really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Cordes get's back to his feet.
Mikhail Rusty is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rusty is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Rusty throws a leg kick which misses Cordes's front leg but catches the back leg as Cordes tries to avoid it.
Rusty shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Cordes counters by clinching up.

Cordes has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rusty uses from the top position.
Rusty tries to stand but Cordes is controlling from the bottom.

Cordes looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Cordes seems keen to control Rusty's posture.
Cordes's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Rusty could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rusty trying to control but Cordes is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jorge Cordes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Rusty stalks Cordes and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cordes's face. Cordes staggers backwards, shaken.
Rusty with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Cordes throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Rusty counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Cordes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rusty swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Good leg kick by Rusty there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Cordes moves into the clinch.
Rusty tries to break the clinch but Cordes is controlling the position.
Rusty has Cordes pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Cordes manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Cordes has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rusty uses from the top position.
Rusty wants to stand and escape but instead Cordes has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Rusty wants to get back to his feet but Cordes is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rusty is looking to sweep but instead, Cordes has passed into half guard.

Cordes is looking to advance position but Rusty won't allow it.
Cordes is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Rusty keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Rusty is working hard here to advance position.

Cordes has hold of Rusty's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rusty manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Rusty is trying to escape the mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cordes content just to control the position here.
Rusty is looking to improve his position but Cordes isn't that keen on the idea.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cordes wants to take his opponent's back but Rusty doesn't allow it.
Cordes manages to capitalize on a mistake by Rusty to take his back!
You can see the frustration on Rusty's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Cordes looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
Cordes has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Rusty's body.
Rusty rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Cordes looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Rusty is looking to improve his position.
Mikhail Rusty has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rusty moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jorge Cordes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Cordes winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
