PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fritz Tyler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee has chosen game of death theme as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Max Lee will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Fritz Tyler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Max Lee!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A leg kick checked by Lee.
Tyler really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lee tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tyler swivels and escapes.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tyler paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lee takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Lee tests Tyler's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Lee tries to clinch up.
Max Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Lee or perhaps it was just good defense by Tyler which made him look bad.

Tyler rushes Lee and presses him up against the cage.
Lee changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Tyler fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Fritz Tyler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Lee.

Tyler instigates a clinch.

Lee fails with the takedown.

Tyler changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lee looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Tyler tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Tyler tries to score with some ground and pound. Lee controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Tyler tries to stand but Lee is controlling his head.

Tyler tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tyler has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lee tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lee tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Tyler controlling his opponent.

Tyler is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Lee to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lee shrugs it off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tyler looking for a guillotine from mount but Lee is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tyler tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Tyler looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Lee should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Lee looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Tyler misses with a body kick.
Lee tries to clinch but Tyler is having none of it.

Tyler decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Tyler is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Tyler passes into side control, despite Lee's attempt to control the position.
Tyler tries to stand but Lee is controlling his head.

Tyler swings around for an armbar but Lee sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Tyler's guard.

Tyler has his foot on Lee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lee works his way back into a safe position though.

Lee is fighting to break Tyler's control of his arms but Tyler is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Tyler bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lee's guard.
Tyler is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Fritz Tyler has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Lee darts in trying to clinch

and Tyler counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tyler.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lee can't break the clinch.

Tyler pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lee looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lee shoots in looking for a takedown. Tyler tries to sprawl out of it but Lee keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tyler manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Lee gets tackled into the cage by Tyler. Tyler maintains the clinch.
Lee wants to get back to striking at distance but Tyler won't allow it.
Lee is trying to force a seperation but Tyler has the dominant position.

Tyler pulls Lee into guard.
Tyler pulls Lee in close to prevent any damage.
Lee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tyler looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lee is one step ahead there.
Lee is looking to advance position but Tyler has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Tyler looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tyler's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Lee is breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tyler controlling the position easily from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fritz Tyler dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Tyler shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Lee tries to roll over but Tyler keeps him under control.
Tyler controlling the action here.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Fritz Tyler just wasn't active enough.
Tyler throws a body punch but Lee moves out of range.
Tyler throws the left hand but Lee avoids the punch easily.

Tyler gets the takedown into side control.
Lee is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Tyler tries to stand but Lee is controlling his head.

Tyler looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tyler tries to get to his feet but Lee is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Tyler in his guard.
Tyler controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Tyler seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lee for as long as he can get away with.
Tyler postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Fritz Tyler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Tyler is working Lee over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Tyler will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lee takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Tyler engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Lee working a defensive guard but Tyler manages to pass into side control anyway.
Tyler cracks Lee with a big right hand but Lee just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Tyler wants to stand but Lee is controlling his arm.

Tyler is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Tyler cracks Lee with a big elbow.
Lee is trying to escape the position but Tyler is controlling the position.
Tyler tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A lull in the action here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fritz Tyler showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Tyler has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
