Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Park (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Casablanca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fernando Park!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chad Casablanca!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Casablanca darts in looking for a takedown but Park gets double underhooks and turns Casablanca into the cage.

Park breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Park drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Park gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Park shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Casablanca as he jumps to the side.
Casablanca tries to clinch there but Park circles away.
Casablanca goes for a double leg but Park avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Park continues to drive forward.

Casablanca breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A punch combination from Park misses.
Casablanca throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Park's waist but Park gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Casablanca off to one side.
Fernando Park has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chad Casablanca.
Park misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Casablanca.
Casablanca wants to clinch up but Park keeps it at a distance.

Casablanca looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Park wants to control but Casablanca is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Park is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Casablanca is trying to control. Park wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Park desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Fernando Park just wasn't active enough.
Casablanca fails with the takedown

and Park moves into the clinch.
Park could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Casablanca breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Park fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Casablanca is out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Park feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Park is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Park has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Park postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Casablanca looking for subs off his back but Park has passed one foot through into half guard.
Casablanca trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

Park looking to finish Casablanca with some ground and pound. This is bad for Casablanca!
Casablanca wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Park is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Casablanca is surviving well by controlling Park's body position as best he can.

Park's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Casablanca is wriggling around trying to escape.
Park looking to finish Casablanca with some ground and pound. This is bad for Casablanca!

Park connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee warns Casablanca that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Park seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Casablanca for as long as he can get away with.

Park tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Park closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Park lands in his opponent's guard.

Park is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Casablanca is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
You can see the frustration on Casablanca's face as Park controls the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Park has taken the fight to the clinch.
Casablanca drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Park gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Casablanca tries to score a body lock takedown but Park shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

The referee is keeping an eye on Park - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Park breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Casablanca circles away from the clinch attempt.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Park.

and Park counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Fernando Park overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Park throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Casablanca was covering up waiting for the punch and Park finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Park tries to stand but Casablanca is controlling from the bottom.

Park might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Park is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Casablanca wants to sweep here but Park controlling him for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Fernando Park wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Casablanca tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Park paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Casablanca goes for a double leg but Park avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Park continues to drive forward.

Park has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Casablanca clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Casablanca wants to escape the position.
Casablanca takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Park looking for the choke from the back.
Good control from Park.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Park. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Park has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Casablanca.
Park has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Casablanca's body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Park doesn't have the hooks in and Casablanca manages to turn into his guard.
Casablanca must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Park tries to free his leg and advance position but Casablanca is retaining full guard.
Park slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Fernando Park.

Park manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Casablanca on his heels. He'll look to pass Casablanca's guard now, I'm sure.
