And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Harry Marry!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Roberts and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marry looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Marry misses with a wild combination.

Sheppard scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Sheppard has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Sheppard controlling the pace for now.
Marry is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Marry rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sheppard moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Marry fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Harry Marry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marry moves to clinch but Sheppard breaks away

and Sheppard counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Marry!
Sheppard tries to stand but Marry controls the position and pulls Sheppard into his guard.
Sheppard content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sheppard passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Marry throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Marry scores with a decent looking hook.
Sheppard avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Marry lands with a hook. Sheppard tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Sheppard tries to close the distance and clinch but Marry swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Marry feints a jab promting Sheppard to slip. Marry then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sheppard slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Marry is breathing heavily.
Sheppard fails in his attempt to clinch.

Marry gets caught flat footed, as Sheppard shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Marry can't keep his opponent in guard - Sheppard advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sheppard is looking for a kimura here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Marry throws a right and a left that both miss.
Marry throws a right and a left that Sheppard avoids nicely.
Marry misses with a wild combination.

Sheppard rushes Marry and presses him up against the cage.
Sheppard tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Sheppard has Marry pushed against the cage.

Sheppard jumps guard and drags Marry to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Marry postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Sheppard on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sheppard tries to get out of the position.

Sheppard pulls Marry in to control the position.
Marry throws a big elbow that misses.
Marry must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sheppard wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Sheppard manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Marry manages to get himself to full guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Marry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sheppard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sheppard, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
