The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De Wolfe throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and De Wolfe counters with a single leg into guard. Alvarez didn't expect that.

Alvarez shoots in and bounces De Wolfe off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
De Wolfe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

De Wolfe has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alvarez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

De Wolfe manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alvarez manages to get himself to full guard.

Alvarez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Alvarez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says De Wolfe as he avoids it easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
De Wolfe doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Alvarez counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

De Wolfe is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Alvarez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Alvarez's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
De Wolfe has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Alvarez has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
De Wolfe is working for a rear naked choke. Alvarez is not defending it well and De Wolfe has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Alvarez refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Alvarez's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
