Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derek Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Sullivan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derek Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Sullivan!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kane feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kane drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sullivan dives on top into guard.
Sullivan trying to control but Kane is working from the bottom.

Kane looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Sullivan passes into half guard.
Kane is trying to get back to full guard.
Kane gets full guard.

Kane throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Kane is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kane tries to pass to full mount but Sullivan defends it.
We've been hearing that Kane has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Kane is working hard here to advance position.
Kane wants to take a breather but Sullivan is having none of it.
Sullivan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kane is working away from the top position though.

Kane winds up and cracks Sullivan with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Kane is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kane works his foot free and advances to mount.
Kane in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Kane landing punches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kane tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Sullivan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kane scoring with strikes but Sullivan is staying in there.
Sullivan is in all sorts of trouble here.
Kane looking to control and managing it successfully.

Kane jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Sullivan manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Kane controls the position.
Sullivan is not content to let Kane control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sullivan dodges the ground and pound from Kane.
Sullivan tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Kane tries for a kimura but Sullivan is defending well.
Kane laying and praying for a moment but Sullivan takes advantage and regains half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kane is keen to just control but Sullivan is a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Derek Kane dominated that round.
That's time! Kane's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


A low kick from Sullivan is predictable there

and Kane counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sullivan's guard now.
Kane wants to pass the guard but Sullivan is keeping the position.
Kane is stalling in the full guard.
Kane passes Sullivan's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Kane is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kane lands strikes from half guard.

Kane thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sullivan's head.
Kane is looking to take a break and control but Sullivan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kane is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sullivan has managed to free his arm - good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sullivan is not content to let Kane control the position.

Kane is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sullivan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kane.
Kane works his foot free and advances to mount.
Sullivan looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Kane lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Sullivan hang on?
Kane wants to control the pace but Sullivan is squirming around nicely.
Sullivan really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Kane cracks Sullivan with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Kane looking to control and managing it successfully.
Sullivan tries to reverse the position but Kane maintains control.
Kane looking to control but Sullivan is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Sullivan tries to hold on but Kane postures up.

Kane with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Sullivan is in all sorts of trouble here.
Kane throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Kane wants to control the pace but Sullivan is squirming around nicely.

Kane goes for an armbar but Sullivan turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Sullivan.

Kane looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kane is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kane is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sullivan can do to turn this around?

Kane is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sullivan is aware though and is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Derek Kane dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Kane looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Sullivan!

Kane taking a break here but Sullivan is having none of it and regains half guard.
Kane throws a strike but Sullivan avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Kane tries to free his leg and advance position but Sullivan is retaining full guard.
Kane wants to control from the top but Sullivan keeps moving.

Kane is really struggling to control Sullivan but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Kane won't allow Sullivan to sweep him here.
Kane throws a big right hand that misses.
Kane trying to control the position from guard on top but Sullivan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We're going to have a standup here because Derek Kane wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Kane shoots in looking for a takedown. Sullivan tries to sprawl out of it but Kane keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sullivan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kane ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Sullivan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kane moves away.
George Sullivan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kane tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sullivan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kane somewhat.
Kane fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kane shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sullivan as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Derek Kane. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kane gets a takedown into half guard.
Sullivan won't allow Kane to pass to mount.
Kane throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kane wants to advance to full mount but Sullivan doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Kane has gone for a leg lock! Sullivan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kane's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kane is on top in guard.
Kane passes Sullivan's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Kane is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sullivan has managed to free his arm - good work.
Kane wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sullivan keeps working.
It looks like Kane is going to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kane wants to pass to mount but Sullivan is defending the position.

Kane is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sullivan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kane.

Kane is looking for a kimura but Sullivan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kane to get the leverage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Derek Kane showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kane has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
