PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cuddles Mackenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rikki Theodosi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mackenzie's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Bitter Peace - Slayer. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mackenzie checks the leg kick.

Mackenzie wants to clinch up but Theodosi keeps it at a distance.

Mackenzie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mackenzie showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mackenzie is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Theodosi reverses the position - he's now on top in Mackenzie's guard.
Mackenzie has control of Theodosi's left arm, preventing Theodosi from doing any damage.

Mackenzie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mackenzie seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Theodosi is trying to stand.

Mackenzie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mackenzie is pressing down on Theodosi's thigh, looking to free his foot. Theodosi is holding on for now.

Mackenzie is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Mackenzie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Theodosi's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mackenzie stands up from mount. Strange move.
Mackenzie lands a glancing blow to the side of Theodosi's head.
Mackenzie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Theodosi's waist but Theodosi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mackenzie off to one side.

and Mackenzie counters with a nice double leg into side control. Theodosi won't be happy with that.

Theodosi pushes Mackenzie away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mackenzie gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Mackenzie drives through and clinches with Theodosi against the cage.
Mackenzie drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Theodosi gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Theodosi is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Mackenzie is keeping busy.
Theodosi has had enough of the clinch but Mackenzie keeps him there for the moment.
Theodosi is pressed up against the cage. Mackenzie has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Theodosi down to the mat. Theodosi avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mackenzie's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Theodosi has his feet on Mackenzie's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Mackenzie has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Theodosi avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cuddles Mackenzie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Theodosi wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mackenzie has him pressed against the cage.

Mackenzie has hold of Theodosi's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Theodosi seems comfortable defending it but Mackenzie has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Theodosi is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Theodosi is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Mackenzie couldn't care less - he's delighted!
