PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dustin Davidson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yasser Arafat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davidson comes to the cage accompanied by August Burns Red - Meridian. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dustin Davidson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yasser Arafat!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Davidson shoots in and gets a takedown into Arafat's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Arafat is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Davidson is controlling him.
Arafat looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Davidson wants to control from the top but Arafat keeps moving.
Davidson landing with the ground and pound.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Davidson connects with a nice short shot to Arafat's temple.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Davidson cracks Arafat with a big right hand but Arafat just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Davidson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Davidson throws an elbow but Arafat slips to the side and avoids it well.

Davidson has Arafat pulled in close to control his posture.
Davidson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Davidson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Davidson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Davidson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Arafat manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Davidson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Arafat manages to avoid it.
Davidson shoots for a takedown but Arafat saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Davidson throws a solid leg kick but Arafat takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Davidson.
Davidson goes for a double leg but Arafat avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Arafat continues to drive forward.
Davidson manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Davidson wants the takedown. Arafat is fighting it off but Davidson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Arafat's guard against the cage.

Arafat is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Arafat is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Davidson is controlling him.
