Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hershel Carroll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Waddington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hershel Carroll!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Waddington!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carroll lands a nice hook to Waddington's body. Waddington takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Carroll throws a head kick that misses.
Waddington shoots in but no luck this time.
No luck for Carroll with that takedown attempt.

Carroll instigates a clinch.
Carroll is pressed up against the cage. Waddington has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Carroll down to the mat. Carroll avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Waddington on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Carroll. Carroll obviously looking to wear him down.
Carroll shoots for a double leg takedown but Waddington sprawls well. He's pushed Carroll's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Waddington defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Carroll.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hershel Carroll. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Waddington wants to clinch.
Carroll has a takedown stuffed.
Waddington keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Waddington dives in for a single leg takedown but Carroll sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Carroll breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Carroll fails to land the takedown.
Carroll shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Carroll gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Waddington ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Waddington no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Waddington looking for a sweep. Not yet Waddington, not yet.
Waddington is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Waddington controlling Carroll's posture.
Carroll throwing strikes from guard but Waddington blocks nicely.
Carroll really is a fat lump.

Carroll pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Waddington is keeping the position for now.
Waddington wants to stand but Carroll is controlling the position.
Waddington looking to hit a scissor sweep but Carroll is one step ahead there.
Waddington wants to stand and escape but Carroll is having none of it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Waddington takes a swing at Carroll's ribcage but misses.

Carroll gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Carroll is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Waddington to keep the fight standing.
Carroll is trying to pull guard but Waddington turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Carroll stalling in the clinch but Waddington improves position.
Carroll is trying to drag Waddington to the mat but Waddington just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Waddington is looking to break free of the clinch but Carroll has double underhooks.
Waddington throws a head punch that misses.
Carroll is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Waddington stalling in the clinch but Carroll improves position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Waddington tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Carroll just stands there and leans against the cage.
Carroll prevents a takedown attempt there.
Waddington jumps guard but Carroll stands there with Waddington around his waist. Waddington gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Carroll is trying to pull guard but Waddington turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Carroll jumps guard and drags Waddington to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Waddington really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carroll. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Waddington sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Waddington wants to control from the top but Carroll keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Waddington postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hershel Carroll will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Carroll fails with the takedown.
Carroll throws a sloppy head kick and Waddington moves out of range easily.

Waddington looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Carroll tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Waddington is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Waddington stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Waddington wants to clinch.
Waddington slips under a jab.

Carroll rushes Waddington and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Carroll jumps into guard, dragging Waddington to the mat.
Waddington with a flurry of punches that miss.
Waddington lands a couple of elbows.
Waddington lands a couple of digs.
Waddington makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Waddington lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Waddington working some strikes from top position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Waddington trying to control but Carroll is working from the bottom.
Waddington controls from within his opponent's guard.
Waddington trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Waddington controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Carroll might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Waddington accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Waddington trying to control the position from guard on top but Carroll is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mike Waddington hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Carroll swinging wildly here.
Carroll tries for a takedown but Waddington sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Carroll gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.


Carroll is rocked!
Waddington postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Carroll covers up, he's hurt! Waddington keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Waddington and the ref steps in to end the fight! Waddington can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Waddington!
