Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Christopher Sexton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Peter Derkuzniak!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sexton tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Derkuzniak manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sexton on his heels. He'll look to pass Sexton's guard now, I'm sure.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Derkuzniak stays in close to Sexton's body and controls the position.

Sexton escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Derkuzniak gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Sexton wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Derkuzniak has him pressed against the cage.

Derkuzniak has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sexton uses from the top position.

Derkuzniak is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Derkuzniak is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Derkuzniak feints and as Sexton raises his hands in defense, Derkuzniak changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Derkuzniak can do anything to dispel that myth.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Derkuzniak. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Derkuzniak fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sexton sprawls well initially but Derkuzniak persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Sexton is looking for a sweep. Derkuzniak is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well Derkuzniak has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
