Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mark Stepp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zhelin Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Stepp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zhelin Li!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A decent looking cross lands there for Stepp.

Stepp has managed to clinch.
Li fails to pull guard.
Li tries to pull guard but Stepp holds him up against the cage and eventually Li drops back down to his feet.
Still in the clinch, Stepp scores with a nice short uppercut.

Li jumps guard and drags Stepp to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Stepp is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Li is trying to keep Stepp in close.
Stepp wanted to stand there but Li had control of the position.

Li felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Mark Stepp will probably get the nod.

Stepp got a little sloppy there for a moment and Li has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stepp has managed to get both his arms back between Li's legs - danger averted.

Stepp not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
