The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Markakis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Hanma changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Markakis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hanma decides to stand back up.

and Markakis counters by clinching up.
Markakis is trying to break free.

Markakis is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hanma is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Markakis to the mat. Markakis regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Hanma stands and throws Markakis's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Hanma advances nicely into full mount.
Hanma lands a heavy elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hanma cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hanma swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Markakis is now in Hanma's guard. A big mistake from Hanma there, giving up the dominant position!

Markakis is in close to Hanma's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Hanma has his foot on Markakis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Markakis works his way back into a safe position though.

Markakis tries to free his leg and advance position but Hanma is retaining full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Hanma is looking to sinch up a triangle. Markakis throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hanma's body to avoid the submission. Hanma has instead reached around Markakis's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hanma arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
