The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hax gets caught napping as Bender dives in and scores a takedown. Hax manages to retain guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Bender trying to control but Hax is working from the bottom.
Hax really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bender. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hax wants to stand up but Bender is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hax can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hax seems a little lost for a moment, as Bender dominates the positioning.
Bender throws a strike aimed at the side of Hax's head but Hax avoids it well.

Bender is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hax knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Bender is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hax is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bender really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hax tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Bender manages to move to mount!
Bender has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hax is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hax is squirming around, avoiding Bender's attempts to control the action.

Bender is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

Bender thows a body shot but no joy.

Bender throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hax tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bender is in Hax's guard.
Bender tries to free his leg and advance position but Hax is retaining full guard.

Bender stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hax swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lenard Bender has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Hax fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Bender closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Bender wants to stand but Hax has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Bender has hold of Hax's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Hax seems comfortable defending it but Bender has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Hax is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Hax is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Bender couldn't care less - he's delighted!
